We tv Greenlights Show About Gospel Duo Mary Mary

NY - AMC Networks' WE tv has greenlit an eight-episode, one-hour original series featuring sisters Erica and Tina Campbell of three-time Grammy award winning Gospel duo Mary Mary as part of a push to start "super serving" urban audiences on Thursday nights. The series, tentatively titled Mary Mary, will follow the musicians as they balance careers and families and add to WE tv's growing lineup of original programming that showcases "every kind of family and all kinds of drama." The network said the show will debut on March 29 - after the second season run of Braxton Family Values - and air on Thursday nights. The channel said the show is part of its strategy to launch a third night of original programming dedicated to serving its growing urban audience. "Mary Mary is a great fit for WE tv," said Kim Martin, president & general manager, WE tv. "Erica and Tina are modern women balancing careers and family and doing it in the spotlight.Their issues are the same as so many women today, and this show will capture the entertaining ups and downs of life that they face on a daily basis." WE tv's popular bridal programming, such as Bridezillas and My Fair Wedding with David Tutera, has established a Sunday following. Earlier this year, the network unveiled a second night of originals on Tuesdays, which showcases a modern view of family life. Shows like Joan and Melissa: Joan Knows Best? and Braxton Family Values have been on that night. "Thursdays are an extension of this strategy and will be dedicated to super serving WE tv's growing urban audience," the network said Monday.
